Travel

Fordingbridge Federation works hard to encourage a more active school run and a deeper connection to both the outdoors and local community, which in turn supports mental wellbeing. We work in partnership with The Hampshire Travel Team with support from Modeshift STARS a Centre of Excellence for the delivery of Effective Travel Plans in Education and Living Streets to help achieve this.

The STARS Education scheme recognises schools and other educational establishments that have shown excellence in supporting cycling, walking and other forms of sustainable and active travel. Launched in 2008, the STARS Education scheme is supported by the Department for Transport and has seen over 1,400 schools in England achieve accreditation since its inception. In the Autumn and Spring of each year, schools, local authorities and key partners come together for the National STARS School Travel Awards which recognise the outstanding schools from each local authority.

We are so proud that we achieved our Platinum accreditation in 2023!

Start planning your journey to school by reading the booklet below:

Living Streets are a UK charity who work with the government to make change happen, they want to reverse the decline in walking by making streets more suitable for walking and encouraging more people on their feet.

The living streets website has some really useful resources under the walk to school – parents tab to help you get you and your family walking:

We have no parking on site with the exception of blue badge holders, please see our Park and Stride Map to see where the parking green 5/10 minute active travel zones are:

The WOW challenge (Walk Once a Week) encourages families to

sustainably travel to school at least once a week.
